Brown & James welcomes 16 new associates

Sixteen new attorneys joined the Missouri and Illinois offices of Brown & James, P.C., as part of its fall class of associates.

Harry Benson practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of employment law, insurance law, and premises and retail liability. He is a graduate of Washington University School of Law. His prior experience includes serving as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia U.S. Magistrate Judge James E. Seibert, a judicial intern for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri U.S. Magistrate Judge David D. Noce, the Prosecution Clinic of the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, and as a law clerk for a firm.

Nora Curran practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of insurance law, arson-fraud litigation, product liability, and premises and retail liability. She is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as an intern for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and as a clerk at two law firms.

Ronghua Guan practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of business and commercial litigation, construction, employment, insurance law, and professional liability. She is a graduate of Washington University School of Law and also earned her LLM from the University of Texas School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as a legal intern for a major corporation and international organization and as a law clerk for a firm.

Peter LeGrand practices in the Belleville, Ill., office in the areas of business and commercial law, insurance law, premises and retail liability, product liability, subrogation, and transportation. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. His prior experience includes serving as a law clerk in the 16th Judicial Circuit of Illinois and as an intern at a law firm.

Michael Lester practices in the Kansas City office in the areas of in the areas of business and commercial litigation, construction law, insurance law, premises and retail liability, and product liability. He is a graduate of University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. His prior experience includes practicing as an associate at a law firm and serving as a judicial intern for the Western District of Missouri.

Alex Lindley practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of insurance law, premises and retail liability, and construction law. He is a graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law. His prior experience includes serving as a law clerk, extern and intern for law firms and as a clerk for the Hon. John R. Essner of the 21st Judicial Circuit of St. Louis County. He is the founder of Project Wake Up, a 501(c)3 aiming to combat the inadequacies in the way mental health is legislated, funded, treated, and perceived by the public.

Logan Lippert practices in the St. Louis office in the area of insurance law. She is a graduate of Washington University School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as a legal intern for the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation and as a law clerk for an insurance company.

Mengmeng Luo practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of insurance law, premises and retail liability, product liability and transportation. She is a graduate of Washington University School of Law, where she also earned her LLM. Her prior experience includes serving as a judicial extern to the Hon. Amy Weinhaus at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a legal intern for the Federal Public Defender for Southern District of Illinois, a judicial intern for the Xianju People’s Court, and a summer associate at a law firm.

Catherine Schwarze practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of insurance law and premises and retail liability. She is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law, where she also received her LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her community involvement includes the St. Louis Zoo Young Professionals and Muny Young Friends.

Andrea Sciarratta practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of premises liability, professional liability, transportation law, and insurance defense. She is a graduate of Washington University School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as an intern for the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office and the United States Attorney’s Office.

Brandon Shultz practices in the Belleville office in the areas of arson-fraud litigation, business and commercial litigation, employment law, insurance law, premises and retail liability, product liability, subrogation, transportation, and workers' compensation. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University Law School. His prior experience includes serving as an intern for Judge Nancy Rosenstengel in the Southern District of Illinois and Magistrate Judge David Noce in the Eastern District of Missouri.

Laura Stringfellow practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of insurance law, premises and retail liability, and business and commercial litigation. She is a graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as a law clerk for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri and a law firm and as a student attorney for the Saint Louis University Entrepreneurship and Community Development Law Clinic.

Nina Sykora practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of insurance law, premises and retail liability, and product liability. She is a graduate of the John Marshall Law School. She was previously an assistant public defender for the Missouri State Public Defender system.

Matt Thoelke practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of business and commercial litigation, insurance law, premises and retail liability, product liability, and transportation. He is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. His prior experience includes serving as a clerk and summer associate at two law firms.

Rebecca Verble is a senior associate who practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of business and commercial litigation, employment law, premises and retail liability, and professional liability. She is a graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as in-house counsel for a major St. Louis real estate developer.

Jayne Winner practices in the St. Louis office in the areas of arson-fraud litigation, insurance law, product liability, and subrogation. She is a graduate of Washington University School of Law. Her prior experience includes serving as a legal intern for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office and as a summer associate and law clerk for two law firms.
