Brown & James lawyers Sarah K. Cahill, Todd A. Lubben, Peter F. Spataro, and Teresa M. Young were honored at the 2017 Missouri Lawyers Awards, announced by Missouri Lawyers Weekly for accomplishments in 2016. They were honored at an awards luncheon held by Missouri Lawyers Weekly on January 27, 2017.

Mr. Lubben was honored as a Legal Champion. He has worked to keep open the New Life Evangelistic Shelter, a homeless shelter in the City of St. Louis.

Ms. Young was honored as an Influential Appellate Advocate. As lead appellate counsel, she successfully argued the matter of Peters v. Terrio before the Missouri Supreme Court. The Court’s decision, handed down in June 2016, redefined the issue of co-employee liability in the State of Missouri.

Mr. Spataro and Ms. Cahill were recognized for having been awarded the third largest reported defense verdict in Missouri in 2016. Mr. Spataro and Ms. Cahill represented two doctors in a case involving hospital care and received a defense verdict valued at $11.1 million.

The honors awarded to these lawyers continue the long history of recognition of Brown & James, both as a firm and for individual lawyers, at the annual Missouri Lawyers Awards. The firm and its lawyers have been among the award recipients every year since the inception of the Missouri Lawyers Awards.
