Jury Trials

  • In April 2019, Tyler obtained a defense verdict for his clients, Lazer Spot Inc. and John William Fairchild, in a trucking case. Plaintiff alleged that while waiting at a traffic light, his Ford F-150 was hit from behind and on the passenger side by the semi-truck driven by Mr. Fairchild as an employee of Lazer Spot Inc. The Plaintiff claimed permanent neck and back injuries as a result of this collision. The defense argued that Mr. Fairchild never made contact with the Plaintiff’s vehicle and that the photographs of the Plaintiff’s vehicle showed only minimal damage despite the Plaintiff’s claim that he was rear-ended and side-swiped at 25 miles per hour. The Plaintiff had three treating physicians testify to the permanency of his injuries, and the Plaintiff’s attorney asked the jury for $480,000.00. After the three-day trial, the jury returned a full defense verdict in favor of Lazer Spot Inc. and John William Fairchild.

  • In October 2017, Tyler obtained a defense verdict for his client Trans Am Industries, Inc., a local Burger King Franchise, in a premise liability case involving food contamination. Plaintiff claimed that he choked on a piece of plastic while consuming a fish sandwich from the Burger King. The Plaintiff argued that he choked on the plastic resulting in permanent injuries to his throat. The Defense argued that there was no evidence that the fish sandwich contained plastic and that Plaintiff was not damaged. After a one-day jury trial, the jury returned a unanimous defense verdict in favor of Trans Am Industries, Inc.
