Teresa Young is a Principal with Brown & James, practicing in the firm’s St. Louis office.  Within her specialty of insurance defense, Ms. Young regularly takes on cases that fall into the category of complex litigation, including class action, business litigation, and professional liability, as well as cases that contain intricate factual or legal issues. Ms. Young also represents clients in complicated coverage-related matters involving all types of coverages, including directors’ and officers’ liability, underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage, and commercial general liability claims.  

Ms. Young also routinely handles appellate matters for the firm.  Ms. Young’s appellate expertise has been utilized by trial counsel at every level of litigation, from drafting dispositive motions and presenting interlocutory appeals, to drafting appeals and arguing their case before appellate courts.  In recognition of her involvement in the seminal decision on co-employee liability, Peters v. Wady Indus., Inc., 489 S.W.3d 784 (Mo. 2016), Ms. Young received the award of Influential Appellate Advocate from the Missouri Lawyers Weekly.   

Ms. Young routinely presents lectures to the insurance, business, and legal community on topical litigation issues in Missouri, insurance coverage matters, including claims and investigation practices, and the use of appellate counsel.  Ms. Young presently serves as the Chair for the firm’s Hiring Committee and is committed to hiring the best lawyers to serve the firm’s clients and furthering the firm’s goal of recruiting diverse candidates.
