February 13, 2013

Brown & James, P.C. held its annual General Defense and Insurance Law Symposium at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Louis – Westport on Thursday, January 31, 2013.

A crowd of nearly 300 clients filled the hotel conference room at 8 a.m. to see eight presentations during the course of the day. Principal Brad Hansmann welcomed attendees to the seminar before making way for the first presentation of the day, Case Law Update, with David Bub and John Cunningham.  Behind Closed Doors with Joe Swift and Michael Geigerman followed directly after.

The afternoon schedule shifted into two rooms of breakout sessions:  The Ever Evolving Co-Employee Liability Law with Jackie Kinder, Tim Wolf, Russ Watters and Mike Ward in one room, and Missouri Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act with Bob Brady and Jon Morrow in the other. The second round of breakout sessions featured Orthopedic Evaluations with Mike Maguire in one room and Medicare Reporting with Christine Vaporean in the other. The last round of breakout sessions featured What’s it Worth? with Ken Burke, Irene Marusic and Corey Kraushaar in one room and Bad Faith with Brad Hansmann, David Bub and Russ Watters in the other.

Many clients won raffles prizes at the end of the seminar. A cocktail reception was held for attendees following the symposium.

Attendee Reactions:

"I loved Irene's 'Tale of the Tape.' It was hilarious. Only in Missouri could that have happened."

"All speakers were very informative and entertaining. This was my first time at your event and I look forward to attending next year."

"Another great and beneficial day! Thanks to all for the time, effort, and expense of keeping us better informed! Appreciate it!"

"I enjoyed all of the speakers and topics. I rely upon you to tell me what I need to know as to what is trending. I like that it mixes liability and workers comp."

"All were very good. This is always one of the best presented symposiums - the current relativity of the subjects makes all subjects meaningful. Thank you for putting this on - very informative and much appreciated!"
