Corey L. Kraushaar Wins Second Largest Defense Verdict in Missouri

Brown & James, P.C. has been named the 2013 Winningest Defense Law Firm by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as part of the publication's year-end awards ceremony, held January 25, 2013, at the Hilton at the Ballpark in St. Louis. With nine defense verdicts, more than double the number of the next firm, it marks the fifth consecutive year Brown & James has won the top honor for most defense verdicts in the state of Missouri.

The legal publication also honored Brown & James principal, Corey L. Kraushaar with the second largest defense verdict in the state of Missouri. Mr. Kraushaar secured a $15 million value verdict in the June 2012 personal injury trial of Denton v. Asbury Automotive St. Louis, in which there was an accident involving an automobile and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist sought $15 million in damages, but the jury in the St. Louis County Circuit Court found no fault on the part of the defendants, Louis Pohlman and Plaza Motors in the crash. Pohlman worked for Plaza Motors and was driving a Lexus demonstrator vehicle from the dealership at the time of the crash.
