Brown & James Promotes Three New Principals, Adds Fourteen New Associates

Brown & James, P.C. proudly announces the promotion of Kristie Crawford, Richard Gerber and Daniel Hasenstab as principals, and the addition of 14 new associate attorneys in the firm’s St. Louis, Kansas City and Belleville, Ill., offices.

 Richard Gerber Richard D. Gerber practices in the firm’s St. Louis office and concentrates his practice on large-loss insurance subrogation claims. He routinely is called upon to investigate accident scenes and has recovered millions of dollars for clients during his career. He also practices in the firm’s Construction Law, Insurance Law and Product Liability practice groups. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.  He received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and B.S. from the University of Kansas.
 Kristie Crawford Kristie S. Crawford practices in the firm’s Springfield, Mo., office and has been with Brown & James since 2002. She practices in the firm’s Employment Law, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability, Product Liability and Professional Liability practice groups. She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, Defense Research Institute and National Association of Women Lawyers. She received her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and B.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
 Daniel Hasenstab Daniel G. Hasenstab practices in the firm’s Belleville, Ill., office and has been with Brown & James since 2003. He practices in the firm’s Arson-Fraud Litigation, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability, Product Liability and Transportation practices groups. He received his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law, and B.A. from St. Louis University.
   

Joining the St. Louis office:

Conn Q. Davis joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Business & Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property practice groups. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law (2010), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the DePaul Business & Commercial Law Journal. He holds a B.G.S. from Southeast Missouri State University (2007).

Eric B. Gustafson joins the firm as a senior associate, previously practicing with the Hartstein Law Firm, a small insurance defense firm in St. Louis. He practices in the firm’s Construction Law, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability, Product Liability and Transportation practice groups. He received his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law (2000) and B.A. from St. Louis University (1995).

Colleen M. Eagan joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Product Liability practice groups. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law (2010) and B.S., summa cum laude, from Illinois State University (2007).

Sherin Joharifard joins the Construction Law, Governmental Affairs/Municipal Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Product Liability practice groups. She received her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law (2010) and B.S., with honors, from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2007).

Jeffrey D. Lester joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Construction Law, Insurance Law and Premises & Retail Liability practice groups. He received his J.D., cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law (2010), where he was a member of the St. Louis University Law Journal, and B.A., magna cum laude, from Murray State University (2007).

Jonathan C. Pleban joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Subrogation practice groups. He received his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law (2010) and B.S. from Miami University (2007).

Jessica A. Powers joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Product Liability practice groups. She received her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law (2010) and B.A. from St. Louis University (2006). She is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Kristin J. Steinkamp joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Environmental/Toxic Torts, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Product Liability practice groups. She received her J.D., cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law (2010), where she served as editor of the St. Louis University Law Journal, and B.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2007).

Christina M. Williams joins the Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability, Product Liability and Transportation practice groups. She received her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law (2010), M.A. from St. Louis University (2007), and B.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2003). She is the recipient of the National Bar Association’s Region VIII Pipeline Award recognizing her commitment to diversity and the advancement of African-American law students in the region. She is a member of the Mound City Bar Association.

Joining the Kansas City office:

Andrew F. Babitz joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Business & Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law and Premises & Retail Liability practice groups. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2010), where he was a member of the UMKC Law Review and program editor of The Urban Lawyer. He holds a B.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2007).

Jeremy T. Johnston joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Business & Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law and Premises & Retail Liability practice groups. He received his J.D., with honors, and B.S. from Brigham Young University (2010, 2007 respectively).

Jessica L. Sullivan joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Business & Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law and Premises & Retail Liability practice groups. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2010), where she was a member of the UMKC Law Review, and B.A., cum laude, from the University of Denver (2008).

Joining the Belleville office:

Robert C. Creighton joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Subrogation practice groups. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Southern Illinois University (2010), where he served as associate editor of the Journal of Legal Medicine, and B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2007).

Haley M. Schumacher joins the Arson-Fraud Litigation, Employment Law, Insurance Law, Premises & Retail Liability and Subrogation practice groups. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2009), where she served as assistant editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review, and B.A. from Lindenwood University (2006).
