Ms. Young chose to pursue a legal career after receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degree in religious studies at the University of Kansas. While attending Washington University of St. Louis, she won the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Competition and discovered a love of appellate practice. Over the course of her career with Brown & James she has specialized in appellate practice and complex litigation. Ms. Young truly values the balance of appellate work with experience in litigation to better understand legal issues that arise in the trial court.
As an appellate attorney, Ms. Young has represented a wide variety of clients in every aspect of appellate practice. Within her specialty of insurance defense, she has worked with trial counsel in medical malpractice, construction, insurance fraud and coverage cases. Ms. Young’s appellate expertise has been utilized by trial counsel at every level of litigation, from drafting dispositive motions and presenting interlocutory appeals, to drafting appeals and arguing their case before appellate courts.
Alongside her appellate practice, Ms. Young takes on cases that fall into the category of complex litigation, including multi-party and multi-jurisdictional cases, as well as cases that contain intricate factual or legal issues.
